Outer Banks Pool Resurfacing & Replastering

Outer Banks Pool Resurfacing & Replastering

Is your concrete pool ready for a fresh new finish?

Plaster doesn’t last forever, especially at the beach. Sun, salt air, sand and years of chemicals slowly wear down even a well-kept finish. Four Seasons Pool Builders has resurfaced many concrete pools from Corolla to Nags Head, and we can bring yours back to life with a smooth, durable quartz plaster finish.

It may be time to replaster if you notice:

  • Rough or uncomfortable surfaces
  • Stains or discoloration
  • Cracks, pitting or worn spots
  • An outdated finish or color
  • Plaster that is flaking or showing age

How we resurface a pool

  1. Drain safely. On a barrier island the groundwater sits close to the surface, and an empty pool can be pushed up out of the ground if it isn’t drained correctly. We check conditions and relieve groundwater pressure before and during draining.
  2. Prepare the surface. Our team removes loose and failing plaster and clean the shell down to a solid base. Good prep is what makes a new finish last.
  3. Apply a bond coat. A bonding layer goes on so the new finish grips the old shell instead of separating from it later.
  4. Tile, coping and fittings. Resurfacing is the right time to replace waterline tile and coping and update lights and fittings, so you only drain the pool once.
  5. Plaster day. A professional plastering crew applies the new quartz plaster in one continuous day and trowels it smooth, and we oversee the job from start to finish. The pool starts filling right away, and the fill shouldn’t stop until it’s full.
  6. Startup and the first 30 days. New plaster needs careful water chemistry and daily brushing while it cures. Our sister company, Four Seasons Pool Service OBX, handles the startup after plaster (billed separately), so your new finish gets off to the right start. Why new plaster needs a 30-day startup →
