Outer Banks Pool Finishes

Outer Banks Pool Finishes

Our go-to finish: Diamond Brite® quartz

For most new pools and resurfacing jobs, Four Seasons Pool Builders uses Diamond Brite® from SGM. It’s an exposed quartz aggregate finish, made from colored quartz blended with a polymer-modified cement. It holds up to beach conditions like sun, salt air and heavy rental use much better than traditional white plaster, and it keeps its color longer.

Every quartz finish we install comes with our 1-year warranty.

Our customers’ favorite colors

  • Aqua Blue: a bright, tropical aqua that makes the water look clear and inviting. It’s the classic Outer Banks pool color.
  • Super Blue: a deeper, richer blue for a more dramatic look.

Diamond Brite comes in more than 30 colors, from light Ivory and Classic to deep Midnight Blue and SGM’s Jewels line. Browse the full Diamond Brite color chart on SGM’s website → Colin can bring samples when he visits for your estimate.

Other finishes we’ve installed

  • River Rok® pebble for a natural, textured look.
  • Diamond Brite Commercial White, which we used to resurface the pools at Bermuda Bay water park in Kitty Hawk. We drained the pools, prepped the shells and installed new waterline tile, then the plastering crew applied the new finish.

What to expect

  • The color in the pool will look different from a sample chip. Water depth, sunlight, shade and surroundings all change how a finish looks once the pool is full. Lighter finishes look aqua, and deeper ones look blue.
  • A new quartz finish feels slightly textured at first and smooths out over the first weeks of use and brushing.
  • Startup matters. Our sister company, Four Seasons Pool Service OBX, handles startup after plaster (billed separately), so the finish cures evenly. Why new plaster needs a 30-day startup →

New pools and resurfacing

We use the same finishes for new pool construction and for resurfacing older concrete pools. Learn about pool replastering →
